The need for cost-effective, localized greenhouse gas (GHG) data is growing—complementing traditional high-cost monitoring stations, satellite observations, and other remote sensing approaches.
The NILU team has developed a plug-and-play continuous ambient gas monitor:
?Ambient Monitor for CH₄ and CO₂ – Miso
The system integrates a data acquisition platform with NDIR sensors from Senseair:
? Gas sensor at ppm level – Miso
combined with a Machine Learning–based calibration model to autonomously and continuously measure CH₄ and CO₂ concentrations in ambient air.

A plug-and-play ambient gas monitor for CH₄ and CO₂, integrating the following components and features:
• Low-cost NDIR sensors
• AI/Deep Learning–based calibration for high accuracy
• Temperature and humidity stabilization for harsh conditions
• Real-time telemetry and local data logging
• Autonomous operation with low maintenance needs
NILU is now working towards commercialization, positioning this system as a cost-effective micro-observatory for GHG emissions in industrial, environmental, and regulatory applications.
